Ilfracombe awaits Damien Hirst

Artist Damien Hirst's new restaurant is on target to open this December in Ilfracombe, on the north Devon coast.

Called Number Eleven, The Quay, the harbour-side restaurant has been financed by Hirst (who also had a stake in recently-closed London restaurant Pharmacy) and has been set up by director and former chef Simon Browne and executive chef Graham Brundle.

Plans for the restaurant, on the site of the old White Hart inn, were announced in 2000 and construction work began in March this year. It will specialise in local farm produce and seafood.
