Warning over school meals policy
The Government is under pressure to change its policy on school meals following 24 years of bad management, according to a leading authority on food policy.
Tim Lang, professor of food policy at City University, told a conference on school meals in London this week (21 October) that there was major concern in Government about diet-related illness, such as obesity and diabetes. These two diseases, he warned, would cost the public purse dear.
Lang predicted that a future parents' revolt might precipitate changes to school dinners.
