London hospitality company the Inc Group has taken over the former site of Nobu sister restaurant Ubon in Canary Wharf.

The Greenwich-based group, which operates outlets across the capital and at the O2 arena, will relaunch the site in Westferry Circus as Battery in December.

Ubon shut in September last year, citing plans to relocate the restaurant to another area as the reason behind the closure. However, plans of a reopening have yet to be announced.

The Inc Group’s new venture, Battery, is named after the area in New York City which, like Canary Wharf, is an important financial hub.

The restaurant will serve a modern European menu and also include an upstairs private members’ bar called the Battery Club.

The Inc Group has also revealed details of its forthcoming restaurant venture at the Pan Peninsula building in Canary Wharf, where the company already operates the Attic cocktail bar.

Called Tompkins, the ground floor restaurant will seat 300 diners and include a main dining room, mezzanine bar and outside terrace and will serve a traditional New York brasserie menu.
