Ozzy Mohammed from Portsmouth is the new owner of the Forte’s wine bar, brasserie and jazz club in the well-heeled town of Petworth, West Sussex (which is known as the ‘antiques centre of the south’ thanks to its 30-plus antiques shops).
The venue, which incorporates a private members club, was set up just over one year ago by Gregg and Bunny Forte in the basement of Swan House (formerly the Swan Hotel) in the town’s Market Square.
The recently refurbished basement includes a bar/reception and two separate dining areas that can seat 36 people.
The venue, which is ideal for private parties and functions, is known for its fine wine, locally-sourced fresh food and live jazz music.
The remaining 11 years on the leasehold sold for close to the £60,000 asked by the Winchester office of Christie + Co.
