Spanish chocolatier-patissier Oriol Balaguer is to open a shop in Dubai.
Regarded as one of the world’s leading contemporary exponents of his art, Balageur spent seven years as pastry chef at the legendary El Bulli, near Barcelona.
Speaking exclusively to Caterersearch while appearing at Gourmet Abu Dhabi, he said: “The new shop will open in April or May and will sell my chocolates, cakes and desserts.”
It is understood that the Dubai shop will have seating capacity. The business will cement Balaguer’s reputation in the Middle East where his chocolates have been available through a distributor for the past six months.
Balaguer currently has two shop/units, one in Barcelona and one in Madrid, the latter opening six months ago.
