Jillian MacLean, the founder of London bar firm Drake & Morgan and winner of the Pub and Bar Award at the 2010 Cateys, is among four women shortlisted for the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year award.

The award, which is in its 39th year, recognises female entrepreneurs who have made a "significant contribution to business life".

The full shortlist is:

● Susie Hewson, director of feminine hygiene brand, Natracare

● Jillian MacLean, founder and managing director of Drake & Morgan

● Michelle McDowell MBE, chair of civil and structural engineering firm BDP

● Joanna Shields, EMEA vice-president of social networking site, Facebook

The awards organisers said corporate and social responsibility, along with the financial and commercial performance of the nominees and their companies.

The newest Drake & Morgan venue, the Folly, was marked by the purchase of a section of the Colombian rainforest close to the size of London to ensure that Drake & Morgan's carbon footprint is offset for many years to come.

The winner of the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award will be announced at a champagne reception at Claridge's in London on 28 March 2011 at 6.30pm.

The judging panel comprised business leaders including Carolyn McCall, chief executive of EasyJet, as well as last years' winner Laura Tenison, founder and chief executive of JoJo Maman Bebe.

Sally Warmington, marketing director of Veuve Clicquot, said: "As we enter the 39th year of the award, social and environmental responsibility are still a key focus for our judges and this year's finalist all represent business women that have embedded these important attributes into their organisations."
