Ramsay to reduce opening times at Glasgow restaurant

Gordon Ramsay's Scottish restaurant, Amaryllis, is reducing the number of days it opens from next month.

The restaurant, in the One Devonshire Gardens Hotel in Glasgow's West End, is no longer taking bookings for Mondays or Tuesdays from 1 May.

General manager Fiona Nairn said: "We have been open a year now and it was felt that we needed to include some time for the staff to have a break and operate the restaurant in a similar way to the London restaurant which has proved incredibly successful.

"Therefore we shall all have the same two days off a week and will return refreshed and able to put in the time required to continue the success."

She denied that the decision to reduce opening times had anything to do with the difficult trading conditions in Glasgow that have lead to some high-profile closures.

"The business is very seasonal in Glasgow but we have found that those two days are often very busy and the reasons for closing are not related to the success of the business," Nairn said.

The restaurant, which opened in April last year, recently won a Michelin star and is now the only place in Glasgow to hold any stars.
