British travellers value their cup of tea above all other hotel luxuries, new research has claimed.

The Ramada Hotel Report 2007, which questioned 5,500 travellers from the UK, USA, Germany and China to highlight cultural differences regarding hotel requirements, found that more than three quarters of British travellers said that tea making facilities are the most important amenities in a hotel room.

Two thirds said they would request a non-smoking room, compared with 26% of Chinese travellers, and also considered a bathtub as a must in a hotel room.

More British travellers than any other nation deem a hotel bar of vital importance, while they also comprise the smallest number of hotel guests wanting a gym.

The report, which forms part of Ramada’s Leave The Rest To Us campaign, also found that more Germans requested a whirlpool while 80% of Chinese customers considered complimentary slippers to be their number-one requirement in a hotel room.
