Hotel franchisor Cendant is pulling its Howard Johnson hotel and serviced apartments brand out of the Uk and Ireland.
Cendant Europe said it wanted to concentrate on its Days brand and would be changing the name of its chain of five mid-market Howard Johnson serviced apartments in the UK and Ireland by the end of the month.
The apartments in Bristol, Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham will become Days Serviced Apartments.
Cendant’s other Howard Johnson property, a hotel in West Bromwich, will become the Days Hotel Birmingham West by early autumn.
Roy Murray, managing director of franchising services, said: “The re-branding of our serviced apartments is the last step in our strategy to strengthen and build the Days brand in the UK and Europe.”
The company added that although it was pulling the Howard Johnson name out of the UK and Ireland for the time being, it was not “abandoning the brand completely.”
