World Service is top of the Notts again

Nottingham fine-dining restaurant World Service has won the Restaurant of the Year award for the second year running in the Nottingham Restaurant Awards, held last night (9 June).

The global-cuisine restaurant, owned by Phil Morgan and fronted by co-director Ashley Walter, was voted the best restaurant in the city by public vote and a panel of judges. It also won the Best Business Lunch award.

TV chef James Martin, a judge on the panel, said: "World Service had the overall experience, right from walking through the door, to the food, to the coffee. The standards are very high."

Other winners included Nottingham-based Michelin-starred chef Sat Bains, who won an outstanding achievement award, and the Japanese/Latin restaurant and bar, Chino Latino, which won the Central News Viewers' Nottingham Restaurant of the Year accolade.

The awards, now in their second year, received more than 5,200 votes from the public over four weeks for 12 categories. A panel of judges from the industry choose between the top four contenders.
