Charlton Kings hotel

The three-star Charlton Kings hotel in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, has been sold to Stuart and Lin Doughty, the previous owners of the Five Rise Locks hotel and restaurant in Bingley, Yorkshire.

Stuart was formerly a producer for TV soaps such as Emmerdale and Brookside.

The hotel, which was purpose-built in the 1990s as an extension of an existing house, occupies a 0.95-acre site fronting the A40 road from Oxford on the outskirts of the Regency spa town in the Cotswolds.

It offers 14 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 28, a conservatory lounge and lounge bar, a 30-seat restaurant with a large fireplace, and a double en-suite bedroom for use by staff or owners.

The hotel made a £135,000 trading profit on a net turnover of £314,000 in the year to November 2007.

The Cirencester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold of a guide price of £1.35m.
