The Vine hotel, Funchal in Madeira has appointed James Scott as its general manager.
Originally from Scotland, he began his career with InterContinental Hotels working in London, Madrid and San Francisco before settling in Madeira for the first time and managing Madeira Regency Palace and Casa Velha do Palheiro between 1999 and 2005.
He then moved to the Caribbean where he spent three years in management roles at five-star luxury hotels and resorts including Discovery at Marigot Bay, St Lucia and the One&Only Ocean Club, Bahamas.
