Spanish food importer and restaurant operator Brindisa Tapas Kitchen is expanding, with the opening of two new restaurant sites in London.

The company, which was set up 20 years ago, supplies the restaurant trade from its warehouse in Balham, South London, runs retail outlets at the capital’s Borough and Exmouth Markets and operates the Brindisa Tapas restaurant in London Bridge.

It opened new outlet Tierra Brindisa, a 45-seat restaurant offering a menu of tapas and larger food plates, in Soho last week.

In November, the company plans to launch its third restaurant, Casa Brindisa, in South Kensington, located on Exhibition Road close to the museums.

The 65-seat restaurant will offer a similar menu to the original Brindisa Tapas and will include a delicatessen in the basement as well as a bar, informal dining area, ham carving counter and a dining room with views of the open kitchen bar.

The menus at the new restaurants have been created by Brindisa chef partner José Pizarro, while manager Victor Calvante has been overseeing the set up of the front of house teams.

Brindisa managing director Monika Linton told Caterersearch that come the South Kensington launch, the group will not expand any further.

“We’re very pleased to be able to bring our food offering to Soho and west London but three restaurants is as big as we’re going to get,” she said.

“We’re focused on high quality ingredients and there’s a limit in terms of availability so we’ll never be a big chain.”
