Business guests putting in the hours

Monday 24 October 2005 12:39

Workaholic Brits are staying up later and rising earlier, according to research conducted by hotel chain Ramada Jarvis.

Calls for room service are getting later and later with the most popular time now 8pm compared with 7.15pm a year ago.

Ramada’s research suggests this is down to overworked executives checking e-mail and finishing administrative tasks on their laptops in their rooms.

In the past four months alone demand for midnight snacks increased 27% across the group, with chicken curry replacing burgers as the favourite snack.

Bottled lager and a bottle of mineral water are the most commonly requested drinks from room service menus after 11pm.

Proving there is no rest for hard working Brits, the most popular wake-up call time is now 6.45am compared with 7am a year ago.

Bleary-eyed guests are also increasingly opting for breakfast in bed with a 29% increase year-on-year at Ramada Jarvis.
