Mediterranean restaurant replaces Osia

A new Mediterranean restaurant, Dune, has opened on the site of former Pan-Asian restaurant Osia on London's Haymarket.

The 60-cover restaurant and 100-capacity bar opened last week after a substantial refurbishment. The total project cost Guru Restaurants - a new company funded by private investors - about £1.2m.

General manager and shareholder Majid Elghzal, formerly a manager at the Royal Lancaster hotel in Hyde Park, said the company hoped to roll out the brand if it was successful.

"We wanted to bring Mediterranean flavours back to the West End," Elghzal said.

Average spend at Dune will be about 30 without wine. Menus, created by head chef Olivier Ruiz, also formerly at the Royal Lancaster, feature a range of Mediterranean fusion dishes.

Pan-Asian restaurant Osia closed unexpectedly in February this year. Its owner, Raymond De Fazio, transformed the property into the Broadway Bar & Grill before selling the site to Guru in September.
