Olga Polizzi carries off top prize at European Hotel Design Awards

Olga Polizzi, the designer behind her older brother's hotel company, the Rocco Forte Collection, has been presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award at the European Hotel Design Awards.

She was also recognized for the hotels she has created in her own right - the Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall, and the Endsleigh hotel in Milton Abbot, Devon.

Polizzi was one of several UK winners at last night's event, held at the Lancaster London and hosted by TV presenter Clare Balding.

The 252-bedroom Park Inn hotel - Manchester, managed by the Rezidor Hotel Group, won the Newbuild award, one of three presented in the Architecture of the Year categories.

In the Interior Design of the Year categories, the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge - London was named a winner for its Bedrooms & Bathrooms, Lime Wood hotel in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, received the award for the best Lobby & Public Areas, while the Dorchester hotel Spa, London, won the Spa, Health & Leisure Facilities award.

Other award winners included InterContinental Hotel Group for its Holiday Inn Guest Room Design in the Hotel Brand of the Year award.
