Simon Wheeler, the former manager of a restaurant in Leeds city centre, has bought the White Lion pub with rooms in the North Yorkshire village of Kildwick, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The real-ale pub is in the heart of the village on the north bank of the River Aire. It is opposite St Andrew’s parish church within the Kildwich Conservation Area, is close to the Leeds and Liverpool canal, and lies on or near to the routes of several public footpaths including the Millennium Way walk.
Along with three en-suite letting bedrooms and a three-bedroom owners’accommodation, the inn can seat up to 36 guests in the main bar and up to 40 in the lounge bar. Outdoors, there is seating for 42 in the beer garden and 24 on the patio along with parking for 30 cars..
The Leeds office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold off a guide price of £150,000 on behalf of Duncan and Elaine Jamieson. The lease, which runs to December 2021, is owned by Punch Taverns. Rent is £48,000 per annum.
