Tim Waller – a former general manager with a background in four-star UK hotels – is the new owner of the Corinium hotel in the busy Cotswolds town of Cirencester.

The two-star Corinium (after the Roman name for Cirencester) is a Grade II-listed property that dates back to the mid 17th century but has since undergone changes that have added a Georgian façade and a Victorian extension to the rear.

The property, which is a five-minute stroll from the town centre, has planning permission for a back extension to add 12 bedrooms and restaurant/conference facilities for 60 guests.

Current facilities include 15 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 31, a bar with exposed stone walls and a cornerplace fireplace, a 60-seat restaurant with French windows to the garden, and two en-suite bedsits for staff.

The Cirencester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the free-of-tie leasehold off a guide price of £235,000. The 20-year lease dates from January 2004, while current rent stands at £60,000 a year.
