Vivek Singh unveils details of forthcoming Soho restaurant

Indian chef Vivek Singh, owner of London's Cinnamon Club in Westminster, has unveiled details of his forthcoming restaurant in the West End.

The chef-restaurateur, who also owns Cinnamon Kitchen and Anise in the City, has taken over the site of the Red Bar on Kingly Street, off Carnaby Street, and will reopen it as Cinnamon Soho in March.

Spread over two floors, the 75-seat venue will include a bar and restaurant with bar dining, booth-style seating and a covered alfresco dining area upstairs, while downstairs will offer more dining space with a partially open kitchen.

Cinnamon Soho will offer a more casual, affordable take on the modern Indian cuisine served at its sister restaurants, with an average spend of £25-£30 per head.

The kitchen, which will be headed up by Ramachandran Raju, who previously worked at the Cinnamon Club and Cinnamon Kitchen, will offer dishes such as rasam poached and crumb-fried sole with onion raita; Keralan seafood pie; Punjabi whiting fish fingers with yogurt rice and fennel slaw; and vindaloo of ox cheek.

Next to the à la carte, there will be a pre- and post-theatre menu, set lunch menus, a late-night menu of tasting plates, an all-day breakfast menu and a 1am alcohol licence.

Singh commented: "Ten years after opening the Cinnamon Club, and four years after launching Cinnamon Kitchen, I'm proud to announce the third restaurant under the Cinnamon umbrella.

"Cinnamon Soho will be our first foray into central London and we're excited to be in the hustle and bustle of it all: as the younger, trendier sibling, diners can expect a more casual, all-day menu and interiors that are sympathetic to Soho's inimitable style."
