Sofitel London Heathrow named Best International Airport

Sofitel London Heathrow is celebrating after being named Best International Airport Hotel at the 2011 Australian Business Traveller Awards.

The hotel's location, the standard of its food and beverage facilities and the bedroom quality - including soundproof system - were key factors that helped the hotel secure the title.

Commenting on the awards, Australian Business Traveller journalist John Walton said that airport hotels weren't easy to get right.

"It's hard to get the right location and provide the specific services that business travellers need - and when they need them," he explained.

"I've had my fair share of nightmare journeys through Heathrow followed by noisy, uncomfortable nights in hotels. Even after the most jetlag-inducing journey, the Sofitel's signature beds and excellent soundproofing make for a blissfully restful sleep."

The Australian Business Traveller Awards are judged by an independent panel of business travellers and frequent flyers plus the Australian Business Traveller team.
