Charlton house wins £2.7m contract
Reading-based Charlton House has won a three-year contract to provide breakfast, lunch, dinner and hospitality services to 1,500 staff at government and academic research laboratory CCLRC Rutherford Appleton in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The contract has an annual turnover of £900,000 and will also see Charlton House managing vending services throughout the site and a new shop and deli bar. The contract, which starts on 3 March, was formerly held by Aramark.
Entering the Arena
Kent-based Arena Catering has secured a three-year contract to run the Sanctuary Brasserie at the new Farnborough Hospital in Kent. The contract has an annual turnover of more than £100,000. Arena has also won a new franchise deal worth £200,000 a year at Westferry Printers in London’s Docklands, where it has held the catering contract for the last three years.
Mash 'n' gravy 'n' rock 'n' roll
Events caterer Alexander’s served up 200kg of mashed potato, 120kg of beef, 90kg of red cabbage and 60kg of carrots at this year’s NME Carling Music Awards, which took place at the Po Na Na nightclub in London’s Hammersmith earlier this month. Alexander’s fed 460 guest its menu of traditional pie and mash and provided buffets for a further 245 people.
Compass division gets healthy eating award
Hallmark Catering Management, part of Compass Group, has won a healthy schools award for its catering services at Carmel Technology College in Darlington, County Durham. Hallmark Catering Management was bought by Compass from its private owners in May last year.
Techies get an organic experience with Eurest
Staff at the Slough-based headquarters of e-business management company Computer Associates International will now be able to eat organic produce from the company’s own garden. The garden, which has been created by caterer Eurest and landscaping company Waterers Landscape, features 20 organic apple trees, six beehives and a wide range of organic vegetables. Produce from the garden will be used in dishes for employees. Computer Associates International’s restaurant caters for between 800 and 850 people a day.
