Sodexho stays in West Sussex
Contract caterer Sodexho has extended by three years its contract with West Sussex council to provide lunches at 235 primary schools across the county. The contract, which has an annual turnover of about £2m, sees Sodexho provide 3,500 packed lunches a day.
Charlton House founder short-listed for award
Robyn Jones, founder and chief executive of Charlton House Catering Services has been short-listed for the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year award 2003. Jones started Charlton House in 1991, running it from her spare bedroom. The company now employs more than 900 people and expects to turn over more than £30.5m this year.
Jarvis wins PFI contract
Facilities management and infrastructure services group Jarvis has won the contract to design, build and operate three special educational needs high schools for Salford city council. As well as building the schools, which are expected to be complete by September, Jarvis will also provide catering, cleaning, maintenance and security services. The 25-year contract has an annual turnover of about £2.25m.
Scolarest crowns Surrey school chef as the best
Education caterer Scolarest has awarded its Chef of the Year 2003 award to Gary Webster, head chef at St John’s School in Leatherhead, Surrey. He won the title after competing in a one-hour cook-off against six other Scolarest chefs. As well as the title, Webster won £500 and a bottle of Champagne.
