Charlton House has raised nearly £7,000 for charity Seeds of Africa through nationwide sales of its‘Wellbeing Being Well’ water.

The independent contract caterer donates a percentage of each sale to the UK registered charity, which aims to help African families and communities by providing locally sourced seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice.

Caroline Fry, managing director of Charlton House, said: ”Every time a customer buys one of our specially branded bottled waters, they are helping communities in Africa to grow their own produce in organic vegetable gardens and fruit tree orchards, giving individuals and communities a future, not just a temporary answer.”

Fry said that Charlton House sought to balance environmental and CSR work with commercial awareness to “ensure that it is a win-win situation” for all parties.

“The more bottles of Wellbeing water we sell, the more the charity gains and our sales benefit,” she added.
Wellbeing Being Well water is part of the caterer’s healthy eating initiative of the same name, which has a dedicated:

Charlton House invites its 70,000 customers to log in for information on the nutritional and health-enhancing properties of the foods on offer in its 120 staff restaurants nationwide. In addition, staff will find recipes, an ingredient of the week and tips on maximising health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Amanda Gerrard, corporate fundraising officer for Seeds for Africa, said: “The funding raised by Charlton House has enabled us to help children in a primary school to plant paw-paw, banana, passion fruit, mango and avocado trees as well as trees for shade.

“Due to the success of this project so far they have food security and food for their feeding programme. They have especially been able to address the issue of retaining children in school and the promotion of ideas for the best growing practices. Seeds for Africa is proud to be associated with Charlton House.”
