Cheese loaf from Bakehouse

Thursday 20 April 2006 00:00

New from Bakehouse is the Cheese Loaf, an open-textured baton bread produced south of Nantes in the Loire region of France. The loaf is made using traditional techniques and then rolled in grated cheese and baked on the floor of the oven to give it a crispy crust. Bakehouse claims that the process lends a toasted cheese flavour to the bread, and the loaf is suitable for use in sandwiches as well as during dinner service. The product is supplied frozen, ready for bake-off.

Price: about £15 per case of 14 x 400g loaves
Available from: Bakehouse 0800 234 034 www.bakehouse.co.uk
