FishWild cod prices should steady this week with good supplies from Iceland. Plentiful supplies of quality haddock are available from Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Norway. Plaice prices will, however, remain high. Tuna, swordfish, shark and some Maldives reef fish are all available, as are monk, farmed halibut, Icelandic reds, whiting and catfish. There is a better showing of Dovers from the South Coast and France. Skate is also steady, and the mussel supply has improved. Scottish mackerel is plentiful and cheap at the moment. In Norway, the wild salmon season is nearly over, so supplies will be more limited.

It is by far the best time of the year now for tastes of Mediterranean fruit: nectarines, peaches and apricots are all good quality. Watermelons, Charentais, rock and Galia melons are all excellent. British fare is also at its best: runner beans, peas, Hisby cabbages, white large Jerusalem artichokes and Great Maudsley Cos. This lettuce is grown near Manchester where the good soil makes it one of the best in England. The produce is all abundant now and the eating of it will be the best of the year.
