Selfridges to host Thai cuisine festival

London department store Selfridges is to host a festival of Thai cuisine this summer, bringing oriental flavours to its Food Hall and restaurants. 

Organised by food and drink agency GFC and in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy, the Thai Trade Centre and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the festival will run at the Oxford Street store for a fortnight from 14 to 30 July.

It will feature regional specialities from across Thailand including street food carts run by some of London’s best known Thai restaurants offering authentic Thai snacks and desserts.

Renowned Thai chef Pongtawat Ian Chalermkittichai, who operates restaurants in New York, Bangkok and Mumbai, will take over Mark Hix’s eponymous restaurant at Selfridges where he will serve a menu of contemporary Thai food and cocktails.

Meanwhile the ground floor Oyster and Seafood Bar will serve a guest menu from London’s former only Michelin-starred Thai restaurant Nahm.

Thailand’s famous Singha Beer brand will set up a temporary bar in Gordon’s Café offering traditional Thai snacks and cocktails, while Thai food products will be on sale at Selfridges.
