Food service now accounts for one in six meals consumed, according to Government figures, and Glendale Foods is targeting this expanding sector with a new brand, Unique Cuisine, which it has launched exclusively through the Booker cash and carry chain.
The initial offering is a six-strong line-up of frozen ready meals, each sold in packs that contain 6 x 400g servings and can be microwaved in three minutes or boiled in the bag.
The choice includes deep, five-layer Beef or Roast Pepper Lasagnes, both with a pomodoro sauce; Italian Meatballs in a tomato and basil sauce; Chilli Con Carne; potato-topped Shepherd's Pie; Lamb Moussaka; and Chicken Tikka.
A trade price of £8.94 per pack is equivalent to £1.49 per meal.
