Sushi conveyor-belt chain Itsu is planning to open two new London venues at an estimated cost of £500,000.

The first new site will open at the beginning of October in Canary Wharf, while the second is planned for the Portobello Road, Notting Hill, and will open early next year.

Itsu is half-owned by Pret A Manger founder Julian Metcalfe. The new openings will increase its total number of restaurants to six.

Asked about the long-term future of the company, managing director Clive Schlee said: "It's steady as we go at the moment. We'll make our sites profitable and then move on."
