The argument over whether France or Spain is leading the culinary world will be the centrepiece of a debate at the Roux Scholars Club weekend in October.
The discussion, which forms part of the 21st birthday celebrations of the UK's premier competition, taking place at Gleneagles hotel on Monday 27 October, will be led by
Caterer's Chef editor, Amanda Afiya.
Also airing their views will be past scholar Andrew Fairlie, who won the inaugural competition in 1984 and now has his own restaurant at Gleneagles, and the current scholar, Simon Hulstone, who will have just returned from a three-month stage in San Sebastian, Spain. Scholarship founders Michel and Albert Roux will be on hand to offer their own views on the subject.
The day will be rounded off with a gala dinner sporting a menu from four Michelin-starred scholars.
If you are interested in taking part in the debate or want to attend the dinner, contact Karoline Karlsson at Gleneagles on 01764 662231. Or visit
