Apetito launches 57 desserts for schools

Mixed platterPresenting a selection of desserts to appeal to schoolchildren, meet the Government's new Nutrient Based Standards for Primary Schools and keep within the £2-per-meal barrier is a tricky task for caterers, which is why Apetito has launched a range of 57 desserts to meet all requirements.

The Pick and Mix range includes fruit salads, mixed fruit pies, apple pies, chocolate sponges, waffles and sticky toffee puddings, and not only do the desserts meet the standards but they contain no hydrogenated fats and are free from artificial colours, flavourings, preservatives and sweeteners.

The fillings and toppings for all desserts are supplied in separate foils giving caterers the flexibility to create a combination of different desserts.

Children can choose between toppings such as crumbles and oaty crunch and fillings such as apple, pear, apricot and peach.

They could also opt for a chocolate sponge with apple and strawberry filling or a waffle with mixed fruit filling drizzled with chocolate custard.

The desserts can be taken straight from the freezer and regenerated in any conventional oven or trolley to keep costs and space requirements to a minimum.
