Two Gordon Ramsay companies face risk of receivership

Two of Gordon Ramsay’s companies have been given weeks to settle their accounts or face being put into receivership, Caterer has learned.

Four of the celebrity chef’s companies were taken to court today and faced winding-up petitions from the Inland Revenue & Customs.

Two of the four petitions were adjourned to give the companies time to settle undisclosed debts. Gordon Ramsay Plane Food – which operates his restaurant at Terminal 5 - was given 14 days grace to allow for a cheque to clear, while Gordon Ramsay Maze Ltd was given 63 days to pay off its debts.

The court dismissed the remaining two petitions, brought against Gordon Ramsay Narrow Street Ltd and Gordon Ramsay Hospital Road.

If the companies fail to settle the debts, the court could put them into receivership, the businesses will be closed and any assets will be sold off.

A statement issued by Gordon Ramsay Holdings said: “In the summer Gordon Ramsay Holdings announced a restructuring of the businesses’ finances following short-term cash-flow problems. The company announced it was repaying debts, but it would be a process that would take several months. In the High Court this morning the judge accepted this was the position and dismissed two of the petitions on the basis the debts had been cleared. She also gave GRH further time to settle the other two debts. In one case a cheque is waiting to clear and in the other we are in the process of settling the account over the next few weeks.”
