Striessing bows out as savoy director
Herbert Striessnig is to retire as director and general manager of London's Savoy Hotel this summer.
He became general manager six years ago after spending a similar period as general manager at the Churchill Hotel, London. Before that, Mr Striessnig spent 11 years running the May Fair Inter-Continental.
According to the Savoy Group, the retirement of Mr Striessnig, who is 65, is unconnected with the other changes since the recent appointment of Ramón Pajares as group managing director.
Miller signs up at danesfield house
Brian Miller has become general manager of Danesfield House, near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, recently bought by unnamed Malaysian-based investors.
Mr Miller was formerly general manager at the Welcombe Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon, for 11 years.
Brown joins new forte division
Keith Brown has become sales and marketing director of Forte's new White Hart Hotels division, which was originally to have been called County Hotels. Mr Brown previously held the same position with the Forte Crest brand.
Knight frank & rutley lures potel
Stephen Potel, former joint managing director of hotel broker Routels International, is to head the London office of the new international hotel division of Knight Frank & Rutley.
Also joining is Martin Rogers, who will head its West Country hotel and leisure department.
Broome to head croft group
Stephen Broome has been appointed group general manager of York-based Croft Hotels, stepping into the shoes of Keith Pope who became chief executive of parent Greenfield Holdings last year.
Mr Broome has spent the past 20 years with Forte, most recently as operational director for the Heritage group.
Tourist board welcomes hobbs
Colin Hobbs is to become managing director of the London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau.
Mr Hobbs, who is currently director of marketing and external relations at Stansted airport, will take over next month from Tom Webb, who is stepping down due to ill health.
Hampson to run youth hostel
Ian Hampson has been appointed manager of a £2m youth hostel opening in February in Castlefield, Manchester.
Mr Hampson was previously house manager of the International Student House, Regent's Park, London.
Houghton takes executive chef job
Mark Houghton, formerly head chef at the Solihull Moat House, is to become executive chef at Coombe Abbey, Warwickshire, due to open on 16 February.
He joins a team that includes sales and marketing manager Sue Bruton, and executive housekeeper Joanne Nixon.
