Italian restaurant group Strada Restaurants plans to create more than 900 jobs in 2007 with the opening of up to 30 new restaurants across England.

The company, which currently has 44 restaurants, is planning new sites in locations including Manchester, Salisbury, Exeter, Nottingham, York and Milton Keynes, with each opening creating between 20 to 30 new jobs. It expects to boost annual turnover by 40% this year.

Strada, which currently employs 1,200 staff, has launched a recruitment drive to fill the new positions, targeting staff already in the casual dining sector.

Scott Williamson, recruitment manager at Strada, said: “Our strong reputation attracts a high calibre of staff, often disillusioned from previous bad experiences working for competitor restaurants in the casual dining market.

“Our employees have the opportunity to move between branches and take on new responsibilities – they can also move into management if this is where their career aspirations lie.”

Under the Strada business model, restaurant managers are given ownership of their business – effectively making them responsible for developing restaurants and making necessary changes.
