S&N Pub Company (S&NPC) licensees are being offered the chance to sell dry cleaning, flowers, groceries and party planning through their pubs, as part of a new scheme to boost profits.

The new S&NPC's programme, known as Bar Boosters, has seen the company link up with suppliers and wholesalers to give lessees an additional 17 ways to make money. The company said the scheme was suitable for its entire 2,200-strong estate but is particularly aimed at community pubs.

S&NPC head of marketing, Matthew Woodward said: "The pressures facing pubs in these unprecedented times are no secret.  Looking at the combination of legislation, cultural changes and the current economic climate, we felt we needed to help lessees think more radically about how they run their businesses.

“Many of our communities are losing retailers and services, which successful pubs can and will provide in the future.  During this decade the thriving pub will likely be a pub, coffee shop, corner shop and takeaway combined.  This will help our industry regain its position at the heart of the community.”

The company said it expected each pub to be able to boost profit to its bottom line by at least £1,000 each year, and as much as £10,000.

The initial partners with whom S&NPC has set up arrangements for its lessees include: Sporting Live, Payzone, Innbloom, Movies to Go, Flowerfete, Café Bar, DDC, Papa John’s Pizza, Cloud, Jumbucks and Useyourlocal.com.
