£4m Kent school contract for Scolarest
A new 10-year contract that will turn over £400,000 per year has been awarded to Scolarest by the Homewood school in Tenterden, Kent. The education division of the Compass Group will provide breakfast, breaktime and lunchtime catering services to the school’s 2,100 pupils. Scolarest will employ 15 staff to work at the contract, which the company has run since 1996.
Eurest wins five-year Unisys deal
Eurest has won a five-year contract to provide on-site catering and full vending services at the new offices of Unisys Insurance Services, in Liverpool. The deal, which is worth £250,000 in annual turnover, will see 14 staff from Compass group’s business operation cater for 900 Unisys employees at the 80-seat restaurant.
ESS lands £25m Sandhurst contract
Compass defence arm ESS Support Services Worldwide has been awarded a new four-year contract at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in Surrey, worth £6.25m in annual turnover. ESS will employ 312 staff, providing catering, leisure and retail facilities to the 3,400-strong military community. The renewal follows a previous five-year deal with ESS.
Chelsea gains Regus account
The Chelsea Catering Company has won the contract to provide hospitality catering services at 21 sites of office and meeting room group Regus in the London area. The two-year contract will turn over an estimated £1.25m per year.
Sodexho wins £1.3m Millennium Chemicals contract
Sodexho has been awarded a two-year multi-service contract at Millennium Chemicals in north Lincolnshire. The deal, which includes catering, cleaning, reception and maintenance services, will involve 25 Sodexho staff and produce £650,000 in annual turnover. It won the catering contract from Eurest.
Westminster City Council awards five-year deal to Sodexho
Sodexho Home Service has won a new five-year contract to provide community meals to Westminster City Council. The deal, which is worth £800,000 in annual turnover, will see about 20 staff provide an enhanced food offer in comparison to its previous contract, which ran from 1997.
Windlesham Nurseries awards contract to niche caterer
The Windlesham Nursery group has awarded its group catering contract to Bartlett Mitchell. The three-year deal, which will turn over £275,000 per year, will cater for about 100 children at five sites, with the focus on fresh ingredients. It was previously run by Eurest.
Charlton House cans cod
Independent contract caterer Charlton House is to take cod off its staff restaurant menus from 1 March. The group has trialled cod-free menus at several of its 120 UK sites over the past four months, replacing the endangered species with hake, haddock, pollock and ling.
Sodexho wins Scottish standard of excellence
Sodexho Scotland has been awarded the Hospitality Assured standard for its Standard Life sites in Edinburgh. The seal of excellence is approved by the HCIMA and the British Hospitality Association. There are 10 key steps and 49 measurable indicators that must be met and Sodexho plans to obtain accreditation at a further 15 Scottish sites.

Scolarest wins £7.5m Millfield School deal
Scolarest, the education division of Compass group, has extended its catering and housekeeping contract with the Millfield School in Street, Somerset. The new three-year deal will produce £2.5m in annual turnover and see 100 Scolarest staff catering for about 3,000 students and staff.
14-year Eurest deal at work and pensions department
Eurest has won a 14-year extension to its contract with Land Securities Trillium to provide catering and hospitality services at the Department for Work and Pensions. The deal, which is worth £12m in annual turnover, will see 530 staff from Compass’s business and industry division work across 165 UK sites.
