Bass beer

The Bass beer brand, once Britain's best-selling beer, is up for sale.

The Times newspaper reported that owner Anheuser-Busch InBev was seeking a price of around £10m to £15m, as it concentrated on major international brands like Stella Artois and Budweiser.

The sale of other small British brands including Boddingtons and Flowers could follow any sale of Bass.

Bass has been brewed in Burton-upon-Trent since the reign of George III. It is now brewed under contract by Marston's, which is reported to have ruled itself out of the bidding.

Wells & Young's, Molson Coors and C&C Group are also reported to have turned down the chance to bid.
