Grand Union sees 60% profit growth

London pub firm Grand Union has reported 60% growth in pre-tax profit to £941,000 for the year to 31 March.

Revenues at the company, which has 12 sites and employes 210 people, were also up by 23% to £9.1m.

The figures include six months trading at the company's site in Wandsworth and two months trading at its Farringdon branch.

Managing director Adam Marshall (pictured) said: "The past 12 months have been outstanding for us and we are absolutely thrilled with these results. They fully endorse our approach and underline the core values of the company - good food and wine at a fair price served by friendly staff in a relaxed environment. At a time when everyone is feeling the economic pinch, I'm humbled that our loyal customers choose to spend their hard-earned money and time in our pubs."

The company opened its 12th site at Paddington Basin earlier this month.
