Sodexho contracts
Contract caterer Sodexho has lost its £5m-a-year staff-feeding contract with investment bank Merrill Lynch in the City of London. The contract, which was operated by the caterer's Director's Table subsidiary, is now believed to have been awarded to Compass. The company has also withdrawn from its £5m contract with government intelligence and security organisation GCHQ. The caterer said the contract had demanded investment at a level it was unable to meet. That contract is also rumoured to have gone to Compass.
Best-paid executives
Compass Group's chairman, Francis Mackay, and its chief executive, Michael Bailey, are among the best-paid executives in the UK, a study has shown. Each received £10m in salary, shares, and bonuses last year. Two other directors at Compass, Andrew Lynch and Alain Depuis, also received about £4m each. The list of the highest-paid executives in the country was compiled by Manifest, a firm that analyses corporate pay and board structures.
