The head of Elior’s visitor attraction business has quit his role, spurning the chance to take on one of the top jobs at the restructured contract caterer.

Caterersearch can reveal that Nigel Hutson quit Elior last Friday after his position as managing director of Digby Trout Restaurants (DTR), which he had held since January 2005, was made redundant.

Hutson had been offered the divisional director role at Elior’s newly created concessions business, which incorporates travel and retail contracts such as Tesco, stadium caterer Azure, DTR and Venue-Elior, but took redundancy instead.

Elior has shaken up its UK operations with the creation of a dedicated facilities management division alongside its concessions and contract management divisions.

It also recently launched a venue finding service, Venue-Elior.

DTR runs contracts at the Science Museum, Tower of London and National Maritime Museum and had turnover last year of £34m.
