Langham hotel's MD wins award for excellence

Duncan Palmer, managing director of London’s Langham hotel, has won the Academy of Food and Wine Service’s award for excellence.

The award, sponsored by Dom Perignon, is given each year to an outstanding personality in the hospitality industry who is considered to be inspirational in their field.

Other winners at the ceremony held at the Fishmongers’ Hall in London last week included the Capital’s Carlton Tower hotel, which won company of the year in recognition of its commitment to craft training.

Worcester College of Technology was also recognised picking up the Aramark college of the year award, and the inaugural Philip Thornton award for food service went to Bournemouth & Poole College student Wencke Oestreich.
