Fay Maschler and sister Beth Coventry create new menu for Great Taste at the Cadogan

Restaurant critic Fay Maschler and her sister, chef Beth Coventry, have devised a menu for Great Taste at the Cadogan in London's Knightsbridge.

The sisters worked with Oliver Lesnik, head chef at the Cadogan hotel, and his team to create a menu that features some of the highest-scoring products in this year's Great Taste Awards.

The menu, which launches tomorrow and will run until the end of February next year, is priced at £18 to £28 for one to three courses.

Dishes include cured and smoked fish, comprising wild hot-smoked Albacore tuna, silver smoked eel fillet, roast smoked trout, salmon roe, buckwheat blinis and sour cream; and Rhug lamb tagine with couscous and Belazu preserved lemon; and Jolly Nice gooseberry and elderflower ice-cream, shortbread with rhubarb and ginger jam.

Commenting on her experience of writing her own menu rather than writing about other people's, Maschler said: "So often being just the recipient of someone else's menu, it has been intriguing and rewarding for Beth and myself to work with Oliver Lesnik - where cooking talent runs in the family - and his impressive team, testing, tasting and adjusting.

"Some of the Great Taste award-winning products - for example, the guanciale from Hannan meats in Northern Ireland - are a revelation, and all of them an encouraging measure of progress and triumph among artisan producers."

This year's Great Taste Awards, which were launched in 1994, received nearly 9,000 entries.
