Award-winning Yorkshire restaurant on the market

The Roasted Pepper

The acclaimed Roasted Pepper restaurant and bar in rural North Yorkshire has been put on the market through the Leeds office of Christie + Co.

The contemporary restaurant and bar occupies more than half an acre of land in the hamlet of Husthwaite, which has one of the most affluent catchment areas in the north of England.

It’s located off the A19 between Easingwold and Thirsk, overlooking the Yorkshire Wolds and the White Horse of Kilburn landmark and just a half-hour drive from York city centre.

The Roasted Pepper is a refurbished former pub that dates back to the 19th century that is now operated as a contemporary Mediterranean-style restaurant and tapas bar that also offers British brasserie-style dishes.

Along with the main bar, it incorporates a 50-seat dining area, four-bedroom owners’ accommodation, 30-seat terrace, car park, and private paddock. Period features include original red brick and black clay tiles, exposed ceiling beams, and a brick fireplace with wood burning stove.

The restaurant held a Bib Gourmand between 2004 and 2006, was one of the seven Most Liked Pubs for Yorkshire in the 2007 Michelin Pub Guide, and was a finalist in Yorkshire Life’s Yorkshire Dining Pub of the Year 2005-6

The business has planning permission to add five en-suite letting bedrooms (four doubles and a family room) and extend the restaurant to add 20 seats, a coffee lounge, and a WC for the disabled.

There is also permission to extend both the kitchen/cellar area and the owners’ quarters (in the form of a new office and an en-suite bathroom for the master bedroom).

Christie + Co is seeking offers in excess of £535,000 for the freehold or £125,000 for the leasehold.
