Penthouse suite at the Corinthia Hotel London wins top European design award
The five-star, 294-bedroom Corinthia Hotel London has been named as the sole UK winner at the European Hotel Design Awards, winning the accolade for the best suite.
The hotel's Whitehall Penthouse suite was deemed by the judges to exemplify "the best use of quality finishes with a design that reflected an old English charm with a contemporary interpretation." They were particularly impressed by the suite's "dynamic double height space, delicate balcony detail and breath-taking terrace".
Created by GA Design International, the 160sq m suite has a starting rate of £4,200 per night, plus VAT.
The Whitehall Penthouse suite was one of four from the Corinthia shortlisted for the best suite award, alongside the Royale Mandarin suite at the Mandarin Oriental in Paris and the Rockstar-Suite at the Superbade St Pauli in Hamburg.
A total of 12 awards were presented at the awards ceremony, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, including best new build to the Hotel Lone, Rovinj: Croatia, European hotel design of the year (best of the best) to Superbude St Pauli, Hamburg; and outstanding contribution award to Claus Sendlinger, founder and chief executive of Design Hotels
