Adnams announce job cuts

Friday 27 January 2006 17:08

Suffolk brewer and pub operator Adnams has launched a strategic review that will lead to job losses among its 300 staff.

“These are challenging times for any business involved in the leisure industry and I have no doubt that the healthiest companies of the future will be examining their current business practices right now,” said commercial director Andy Wood.

He said that the current review “has highlighted a requirement for change that will unfortunately result in a small number of job losses”.

The group, which has been brewing ale in Southwold since 1872, has 84 pubs in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex along with one venue in London. It also operates two hotels – the Crown and the Swan – in Southwold.

Wood said the group has invested heavily in its brewing facilities in Southwold, where it is also building a state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly distribution centre that will open next summer.
