National Chip Week hunt for best UK chip shops

National Chip Week, organised by the Potato Council, runs on 9-15 February, giving operators an opportunity to promote chips and boost sales.

This year's ambassador, TV presenter Keith Chegwin, is taking to the streets to find nine regional winners for the Perfect Portion Awards, where customers can vote for their favourite chip shop to win a selection of prizes, including MP3 players.

Celebrity chef Paul Bloxham will be providing some chip recipe ideas, and the Potato Council will be spreading the message by taking chips to radio presenters across the country. National Chip Week lorry stickers are available to further promote the event.

Caterer will be celebrating National Chip Week by enlisting the services of John Campbell, executive chef and head of food and beverages at the Vineyard at Stockcross, who will conduct a chip masterclass to appear in the 12 February issue.
