Pub giant JD Wetherspoon has bought a seafront pub in Paignton, Devon, for around £1m.
The Talk of the Town pub is the second acquisition in the Bay this year for Wetherspoon following its recent development of the former Bar Med unit in Fleet Walk, Torquay, which has now been rebranded and renamed the Green Ginger.
Joint sole agents Waycotts and Bettesworths sold the Talk of the Town for an undisclosed sum off an asking price of £1.1m.
The pub has been in the same family ownership sincere 1948 and the owners decided last year to put the property on the market in order to retire. There is seating for 230 inside and up to 48 outside.
Wetherspoons will rebrand the pub as one of its traditional freehouses and is due to take possession at the end of this month.
