Olive Barnett Award 2012 launched for front-of-house staff
The search is on for the 2012 winner of the Olive Barnett Award, presented to dynamic young front-of-house staff.
Supported by the Savoy Gastronomes and Springboard, the award - set up in recognition of Olive Barnett, who pioneered excellence at the Savoy - is aimed at hospitality staff under 30 years of age.
Entrants are invited to produce a short video plus a CV and employer testimonial by 16 March. A shortlist of the top 30 will be drawn up by 30 March, with judges refining this list down to eight finalists by 4 May.
The finalists will invited to a hotel in London for the weekend of 25-28 May, for the final stage of the judging process.
Last year's winner was Assia Riccio, guest service manager at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire. She received a career development grant of £1,750 a year for two years, courtesy of the Savoy Educational Trust, and a week's training at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland.
