Chefs forum launches in Bristol

A new chefs' forum has been launched in Bristol, headed up by Chris Wicks, executive chef of Berwick Lodge, and Josh Eggleton, chef-proprietor of the Michelin-starred Pony & Trap.

The forum, which was launched earlier this week, invites chefs with Michelin, AA or Good Food accreditations to network and inspire and coach catering students from local colleges.

It will provide a platform for the chefs to source apprentices and work experience candidates as well as a forum to discuss specialist subjects and spend time in each others' kitchens.

Meanwhile local suppliers will be invited in to promote their products and offer field trips to young chefs.

Wicks said: "The forum is very positive for our kitchens and education alike and is something towards which both chefs and students can strive. I am delighted to be part of it."

Adrian Kirikmaa, restaurant and chef manager at City of Bristol College, added: "We are in the throws of a recession where morale is at an all-time low.

"It is important that our students know that there is a job at the end of their studies and hard work and dedication will pay off - I am delighted with the positive reaction of the chefs and their willingness to get involved in the chefs' forum."
