Several employees at contract catering giant Compass could soon be made redundant.
A spokeswoman for Compass said it was reviewing certain departments that it felt it had duplicated.
She said they were looking into departments like Select Service Partner and its roadside division, which it had now merged, but denied that anyone had been made redundant.
But sources said that tens of people, including some high-profile employees, were being made redundant by the caterer as part of a cost-cutting measure.
Compass said the review was not yet complete but admitted that it was in talks with people whose jobs could be affected.
The group said that it was talking with certain individuals about the possibility of redundancy, transfer to another division, or applying for another job within the company.
It stressed that no-one had yet been made redundant.
Late last year Compass made some job cuts at Quadrant Catering, its joint venture with the Post Office. A total of 11 people at Quadrant were affected by the cuts, including its human resources director and finance manager who took early retirement, and an operations director who accepted alternative employment at Compass.
Seven employees were made redundant, including two operations directors, two trainers and three administrative staff.
The cuts at Quadrant were in response to the reduction in the workforce at Royal Mail.
