Campanile, the French budget hotel chain owned by Groupe Envergure, is expanding its UK network with three new openings in 2003. The group is investing £13m, and the three openings will give it a total of 18 hotels in the UK.
Work has already started on hotels in Glasgow and Leicester and is due to begin in Northampton within the next two months. The 106-bedroom Glasgow hotel, due to open in the summer, is to become the flagship in Campanile's UK network of 15 hotels.
"We are committing considerable investment to the development of the Campanile brand. These new city locations will further establish Campanile as a major player and increase our share of the highly competitive economy hotel market," said David Anderson, Campanile's UK operations manager.
Campanile, which has 395 hotels across Europe, markets itself at both business and leisure travellers, offering rooms from under £50.
